HSR Madrid-Levante. San Isidro-Orihuela

Alicante, Spain.

The project consists in the construction of a 9.55 km segment of high-speed rail trackway civil infrastructure as part of  the Madrid – Levante high speed rail system, with double track and a speed of 200 km/h.

The layout of the rail begins in the proximity of the town of San Isidro and ends about 3 km from the urban centre of Orihuela, approaching the stream of the Segura River. In its central section it runs in a tunnel through the Callosa Mountains, an environmental protected area. The rest of the layout runs in embankment or viaduct.

The project also includes the construction of two viaducts located at the portals of the tunnel. Under the first of these, Callosa-Cox viaduct, it is built the building, parking and roundabouts of connection of the new Middle Distance Railway Station of Callosa-Cox, whose sidings and platforms are located on the deck of the viaduct.
